Interview with Brian Behncke, President of ThinkEco², an eco-friendly San Diego business.

Brian Behncke President of Briven Construction www.brivenconstructioncompany.com works in construction during the day and handcrafts recycled cedar wine racks, eco-friendly wine boxes, and garden pot planters at night.

What made you decide to start your own recycled business?

Brian- “I work on projects around San Diego County for my construction business. I had excess cedar that was going to be thrown away. I am eco-conscious, so I thought I would put the recycled cedar to good use and make fun products.”

Describe your 100% recycled cedar products.

“ThinkEco² offers handmade recycled sturdy wine racks that come rustic or a variety of colored frames including pink, blue, mint green, black, stained, and aqua frames. They fit perfectly onto a countertop or in a small space. They hold 12 wine bottles or liquor and are also stackable. We also offer eco-friendly cedar wine boxes which are one-of-a-kind and can be used for other purposes. Durable handmade cedar boxes are hard to find. In addition, we offer eco-friendly garden products including garden pot planters with tray. The pot holders come in 6 individuals boxes with a tray and are also stackable. The wood is reclaimed and repurposed. The garden products are great for green apartment living.”

Where can your recycled products be found?

Brian- They are on Etsy. Etsy is an eco-friendly marketplace http://www.etsy.com/shop/thinkeco2

What are people saying about your products?

Brian- “We have 100% approval rating on Etsy. I take pride in the quality of the recycled wood and take time in creating a sturdy and dependable product.”

What is your goal for ThinkEco²? ” I would love to create jobs here in San Diego and to encourage people to buy locally in the U.S.A.”
